HARWICH'S newly formed community policing team is now patrolling the area.

Tendring District Commander Paull wells joined Inspector Darren Deex and his new team for a foot patrol last Thursday.

Mr Wells and Mr Deex spent some time with PC Tiscott and PCSO Smith speaking with residents and retailers - and they also visited staff at the Community Hub, in High Street, Dovercourt.

Mr Deex said: "It was great to get out on the streets and talk to the community about a range of different issues.

"We’ve taken away a number of issues today which we can focus on, some of which we were already aware of and some which we weren’t.

"The public was really pleased to see us and it was a great opportunity to remind the community that although the front counter is closed Harwich Police Station remains staffed 24/7 and always has been."

The new team is in addition to the existing Tendring Community Policing Team based at Clacton and will support the response shifts at Harwich in dealing with community issues, crime and anti-social behaviour.
