TORCHES and tunnels gave a fundraising Easter egg hunt a historical twist.
More than 150 children took to Beacon Hill Fort in Harwich for the Easter Hunt on Tuesday.
Eggs and chicks were hidden around the site, including in the wartime buildings and tunnels.
Organiser Leanne Burrows, said: “It was brilliant.
“We sold 154 tickets and that was just the kids so there were all the adults that came along too, it was really good.
“The cake stall and ice cream van did well, and we had a range of stalls there.
“We’ve had a lot of good feedback from people saying it was great to see the kids outside with the wind in their hair and learning about the old buildings.”
The event was held to raise money for the Harmonie Rose Dance Academy, which trains at Dovercourt Central Church, and the Beacon Hill Fort renovations.
Leanne added: “The fort worked really well, we hid things all in the buildings and they had to bring torches for the tunnels.
“And they could walk through the forest bits - they all seemed to love it.”
The hunt, which saw youngsters search out hidden items to win a chocolate egg, raised £212 for the dance school and £92 for the fort.
Harmonie Rose Dance Academy is raise money for a van to transport their safety crash mats.
