I READ with dismay the letter from Joan Cooper (Standard, March 29). It seems she is just repeating a view from ignorance.
I’m no lover of Isis or a bleeding heart do-gooder, but it seems to me that she doesn’t have any Christian values of forgiveness in her heart or an idea what it’s like to be a parent.
What teenager hasn’t done stupid things in their life and regretted it?
Shamima Begum’s home life doesn’t appear to have been the best and when she was interviewed it seems she was obviously not the brightest or was terrified what might happen to her if she did criticise Isis.
However, for me it basically comes down to this, if that was your child would you not want them safely home even if they face prison?
Although isn’t losing three children punishment enough?
I think I know what most parents answer would be.
