SLIMMERS have donated more than 100 bags of old clothes to charity as part of a huge fundraising drive for their club’s 50th birthday.

Members of the Lawford, Brantham and East Bergholt Slimming World groups are so confident with their weight loss they have bagged up 118 bags of clothes they have slimmed out of.

These bags are being given to Cancer Research UK shops, and with each bag expected to be worth about £25 they hope to have raised £2,800 for the cause.

Mandy Freke, who runs the groups, says she is delighted to have raised so much money for charity.

She said: “I can’t quite believe how many bags we managed to collect.

“Seeing members donate their too big clothes is just the cherry on top for me as a consultant.

“What I find so special is seeing members transform before my eyes as they lose weight.

“I’m so proud of my members and their efforts. They really do put their heart into everything they do.

“Whether it’s their weight loss, supporting each other or raising money for charity, they continue to blow me away.”

The Big Golden Slimming World Clothes Throw is being held to celebrate 50 years of Slimming World.

The East Bergholt group is moving to East Bergholt high school, Heath road after Easter starting Tuesday, April 23, at 7pm. For more information, call Mandy on 01255 556224.
