A GROUP organising entertainment for the elderly could be forced to close if new members do not come forward.

The Friends of Foundry Court, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, is struggling with a lack of younger volunteers coming forward to help.

The club, for over 60s, runs bingo, keep fit, carpet bowls and music afternoons at the Foundry Court centre in Colchester Road, Manningtree. Outings and parties are also arranged by a ten-strong committee.

But with three of the committee now over 80-years-old and most of the rest in their 70s, many are considering having to step down leaving the group in jeopardy if younger people don't come forward to help run the events.

Secretary Lesley Pallett urged people to get in touch for more information about what is involved.

She said: "It's nothing very difficult." The group's annual general meeting is at Foundry Court on Monday, April 29, at 7pm and anyone who can help is asked to attend or ring 01206 395500 beforehand for more details.
