HUNDREDS of youngsters and their families flocked to this year’s Colchester Town and Country Fair.
It was a mixture of rain and shine during the weekend as the annual show returned to town for the tenth year running.
The popular event was held in Lower Castle Park.
The entertainment for visitors included birds of prey displays, terrier racing, a goat show, petting pens and historical re-enactments.
Arts, crafts, food, drink and gifts marquees also drew in crowds.
Emma Owen, director of Oakleigh Fairs, said it was a brilliant weekend event for the area.
She said: “On Saturday, we were fighting the rain showers, but I am surprised at how many people still came out to support their local show.
“On Sunday, we were really busy and it was lovely to see so many children and their families enjoying the day.
“The farm is always really popular every year at the event.
“This year, for our tenth anniversary, we had a whole farmyard experience where people could go around with a member of staff and learn about looking after animals on farms.
“The equestrian team also went down really well too, and the dog show on Sunday was really busy.”
Proceeds from the dog show will go to Marie Curie.
Plans are already in the pipeline to hold the fair again next year.
