In any election I have taken part in I have always been proud to vote in a democratic country where I thought my vote had meant something.
This time I have never gone to a polling station with such sadness.
I was left with voting for who was the lesser of two evils.
All the major parties of this land can now be termed “anti-democratic” and those that want to be a local councillor represent those same parties.
What has escaped the majority of our MPs and councillors is that democracy through the ages was hard fought for and that people sacrificed their lives for it.
What rubbed salt into the wound was the grins of the pictures of the councillors who had won in the local elections.
They showed no remorse in that they had represented anti democratic parties.
So if you did vote in this election be very aware now as the new councillors representing the current anti-democratic parties won’t be listening.
In fact, I would go as far as to say they couldn’t care less.
