AN artistic schoolgirl has won a competition to design the official clothing for the annual Burnham Week regatta event.
Year 11 student Shannon O’Mahoney took part in Ormiston Rivers Academy’s contest to design the sailing event’s official polo shirt, which members of the public are able to buy when they attend.
Pupils from across the entire school at Ormiston Rivers came up with creative and decorative designs for the competition.
Shannon was declared the winner after a public vote.
Her colourful design stood out as a sophisticated nod to the town’s heritage.
It features the Burnham Clock Tower – a local landmark which has overlooked the town for more than a century since 1877.
Burnham Week claims to be the East Coast’s “most challenging and friendly” regatta and is attended by thousands of fans.
Many of the most prestigious sailing clubs from the East Coast, including the Royal Burnham Yacht Club and Burnham Sailing Club, attend to showcase their vessels and take part in races.
This year’s regatta takes place from August 24-31.
