A TOWN'S oldest pub is hoping to create a pizzeria on the ground floor.
The Red Lion in South Street, Manningtree, which dates back to 1610, has put in listed building consent for the pizzeria to Tendring Council.
It would be a change of use to an extension to replace an original store, which has planning permission already.
A report sent to the council said: "Half of the floor area would be pizza preparation with a food-fired pizza oven, and the remaining area offering seating.
"The Red Lion will continue to allow customers to bring in other takeaways."
