A BID for a huge business park with more than 90 units is set to get the go-ahead tonight.

Evolve Colchester submitted plans for the development off Old Ipswich Road, Ardleigh, earlier this year.

It includes 90 commercial units and five office blocks.

The development site, on a vacant golf range which runs parallel to the A12, has now been recommended for approval.

Tendring Council’s planning committee is due to decide on the bid tonight.

A report said: “It is considered the development will integrate well with its surroundings, would not be out of character with the surrounding area or result in any adverse visual impact.

“Subject to a sympathetic scheme, landscape content would enhance the setting of development and given the sterile nature of the existing land use, contribute positively to future biodiversity.”

Permission for 77 units and five officers was granted in August but the latest application seeks to increase the number of units from 77 to 90 on the 2.3 hectare site.

The report added: “The principle of commercial development on this site has been established and, subject to the inclusion of the conditions contained within the recommendation there is not considered to be any adverse impacts.”

Planning officers have recommended it is approved subject to 22 conditions.
