A FUNDRAISING ball has raised hundreds of pounds to help with an unwell youngster's medical costs.

The glittering event was held in aid of Maisy Kidd-Munnery who has cerebral palsy and a severe form of epilepsy.

The 14-year-old, who lives in Dovercourt, is unable to see or speak after suffering two brain haemorrhages.

The fundraising ball was held to raise cash towards sensory and specialist equipment for the teenager.

A total of £900 was raised from the event held at Parkeston Railway Club earlier this month.

Suzanne Howe, family friend and organiser of the event, said: "Whilst numbers were low due to the football, we still had a great evening, the band were brilliant and had everyone up and dancing.

"We are hugely grateful to the railway club, DJ and security for giving up their time freely, and to everyone who donated to our auction and raffle.

"With other generous contributions the total raised from the event was a fabulous £900 which will support Maisy's rehabilitation hugely."

For the event there was live music, children's entertainment and an auction with a host of valuable items such as signed boxing gloves by boxer Ricky Hatton.

A five-day boot camp stay in Dorset worth £1,000 was also auctioned off.
