Having just returned from a lengthy spell in Spain, it was encouraging to see that the socialist Labour Party had managed to fend off the threat from the far right in Peterborough.

In Spain the socialists PSOE have made gains all over the country in both general and local elections and are now in control of the country, after years of fraud and corruption the courts and the electorate have finally caught up with them.Although the extreme far right VOX did manage a couple of seats, the people remember the far right of Franco and the Spanish Civil War.

These extremists groups in Europe must never again get a foothold in politics.

The people of Spain are no doubt, looking at their neighbours Portugal who since electing a socialist government have been one of the economic success stories in Europe increasing the minimum wage and ending austerity.

Even some British ex-pats have put up for election with the socialist party and gained seats, that’s what living together means regardless of race.
