AN ARSON hit eyesore has been transformed into 66 new homes.
Work has finished on new homes on the former Delfords Factory site in Main Road, Dovercourt.
The site, which had been derelict for 10 years and targeted numerous times by vandals, has a mix of apartments and houses for affordable rent.
Working with Rose Builders and architects, Ingleton Wood, the Delfords development received £1,914,000 in funding from Homes England. All the properties will be owned by Essex housing association CHP with Tendring Council nominating people to live in them.
Carol Cairns Head of Home Ownership and Supply for Homes England in the South East said: “It’s great to see CHP reaching such an important milestone, bringing this derelict site back into use to deliver affordable homes for Harwich.”
David Thompson, Ingleton Wood director, said: “Many of the former factory buildings were substantial structures that dominated the site.
