A HUSBAND and wife team are walking 25 miles to raise money towards rehabilitation of a disabled teenager.

Suzanne Howe and her husband Nick, from Wix Road, Ramsey, are taking on the Orwell Challenge on June 23.

The pair will walk the full 25 mile route along the Suffolk river with all money raised through sponsorship going to the For the Love of Maisy charity.

Maisy Kidd-Munnery, 14, from Dovercourt, has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, is blind, has a dislocated hip and scoliosis of the spine.

After getting the flu and then pneumonia in January, Maisy’s level of care has increased significantly prompting Suzanne and Nick to take on the fundraising walk.

Suzanne, a family friend, said: “The journey of rehabilitation and physiotherapy is going to be a long one. Maisy needs to continue all the other therapies she enjoys and needs, music therapy, hopefully hydrotherapy.

“This family need support to ensure Maisy can live her life to the full. I am taking on the Orwell Challenge with my husband, we completed 19 miles last year and are pushing for 25 this year.”

The couple

have already exceeded their original target of £500 and with cash contributions currently have £625, but would like to reach £750 or even more.
