A RISING gardening star will be speaking at a special event hosted by radio presenter James Max at Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club next month.

For one night only, the club will be hosting an evening with RHS Ambassador Jamie Butterworth.

Club chairman James Max was one of the first people in the UK media to invite Jamie to come onto his show for a regular gardening slot and he's once again a regular on his current programmes on TalkRADIO.

He said: "Jamie is regarded as one of the greatest gardening talents to arrive in British horticulture in recent years.

"He's just designed his first garden for an RHS Show at Chatsworth.

"It won gold in every category as well as winning the People's Award.

"It's the first time in the RHS's history that a single garden and designer have won all the top prizes.

"This year has been a busy year for Jamie as he also set up his new venture Butterworth Horticulture, having been a plantsman for the past five years, importing and growing plants for the world's top garden designers for their shows around the world and at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show."

Jamie will be at Frinton-on-Sea Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday, July 6, from 6.30pm.

James added: "He'll be talking about his career and trends in gardens and design.

"But he'll also be answering your horticultural questions and bringing along copies of his first book '50 plants you can't kill' and signing them too.

"Jamie is a real talent, brilliant speaker and has become a regular voice on TalkRADIO and the BBC, Gardener's Question Time and on TV with the RHS flower show programmes and Gardener's World."

Tickets cost £10 and Jamie has agreed to donate his time for free, with all funds raised going to the club.
