GENEROUS golfers have raised £2,800 to help Walton and Frinton’s lifeboat crews to save lives at sea.
Simon Martin-Redman, Frinton Golf Club captain for 2018/9, set a new record for the club’s annual charity donation.
Mr Martin-Redman started his career in the Royal Navy and retired from the service as a commander.
He said: “The RNLI is a charity close to my heart.
“Anything to do with the sea is important to myself and my wife Claire.
“We have a close connection with Walton and Frinton RNLI as my father-in-law was a coastguard at Walton for many years.
“Club members were extremely generous in their support of the fundraising events, including a very successful Captain’s Golf Day which the crew attended to meet and greet with the members.
“We also held dinners, raffles and quizzes.
“With the addition of Gift Aid, I was delighted to be able to give a total of £2,851, every single penny of which I know will go directly to supporting our local RNLI volunteer crew.”
