PUPILS from across Tendring will be taking to the stage as part of the annual Tendring Vocal Festival.

Around 360 pupils at 12 schools will be singing at two performances at Clacton’s Princes Theatre following rehearsals which have been taking place since the start of the summer term.

Songs come from a range of genres and will include Happy, Mamma Mia and I Believe I Can Fly.

It is the seventh year of the Tendring Vocal Festival, and is the second under the musical directorship of Kristian Parkes – who will also oversee the live professional five-piece band who will be accompanying the children.

The festival is co-organised by Essex Music Hub, supported by Essex County Council’s Essex Music Services.

Peter Lovell, from Essex Music Services, said: “We are always delighted to support primary schools from the Tendring area providing opportunities from our innovative music service.

“The now annual Tendring Vocal Festival is always greeted with enthusiasm, support and commitment from the children, teachers and parents.

“Kristian Parkes is one of the music services’ vocal specialists and is well-known across the county as an inspirational and enthusiastic vocal coach and conductor.

“We thank him for all his work and hope that everyone enjoys having the opportunity to perform at the Princes Theatre.”

Taking part in the event will be Kirby Primary, Two Village Primary, Burrsville Infants, Alton Park Primary, Ravens Academy, Walton Primary, Engaines Primary, St Clare’s Primary, Holland Park Primary, Cann Hall Primary, Great Clacton Primary and Great Oakley Primary.

Performances take place on July 10 and 11 at 7pm. Tickets are £5 each or four for £15 and are on sale from the theatre box office or online at princestheatre.co.uk.
