“DANGEROUS” motorbike riders were stopped by armed police and given “strong words of advice”.

The riders were spotted weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds on the M23 towards Brighton on Saturday.

Police say the firearms unit, dog unit, and roads policing unit were deployed to track down 30 “high-powered vehicles”.

A number of the motorcycles were seized for not having valid insurance details.

In a statement the force said officers responded to reports of “dangerous and antisocial driving”.

“Strong words of advice were given to a number of other individuals,” the force said.

Chief Inspector Michael Hodder said: “It goes without saying that there are significant risks associated with dangerous and antisocial driving or riding, and our response demonstrates that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.

“Not only do you present a serious danger to yourself; you also present a danger to other innocent road users.”

Dangerous driving can be reported to Sussex Police online via Operation Crackdown, or on 999 in an emergency.
