DOGS showed why they are man’s best friend at a charity dog show.

Acorn Village, a charity for adults with learning disabilities in Mistley, held its annual dog show to raise funds.

Now in its seventh year, the show had a wide range of competitions and agility classes throughout the day.

Some of the most popular classes included the best biscuit catcher and the waggiest tail.

Vets from Highcliff Veterinary Practice, in Brantham, were on hand to be show judges.

Kate Williams, commercial development and marketing co-ordinator at Acorn Village, said: “We may be biased but we have the most wonderful volunteers a charity could ever be blessed with having.

“Their positivity throughout the event made the atmosphere of the day just wonderful, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves despite the weather.”

A total of £5,000 was raised from the event.

Kate added: “A huge thank you to Tom Forsyth, from Highcliff Vets, who judged the day, he had a permanent smile on his face and some very challenging decisions ahead of him. All of the dogs are winners in his and our eyes as they were so well behaved.”
