A POPULAR beer festival is returning to Kingsway Hall after four years.

Plans for the Harwich Beer Festival are well under way, and this year the event is returning to its original home Kingsway Hall, in Dovercourt.

The Harwich and Dovercourt Bay Winter Ale Festival had been held in the Kingsway Hall since it began in 2002 but the hall was not available in 2015, causing the festival to be cancelled. But the Parkeston Railway Club agreed to host the event in 2016 and also provided the venue for the 2017 and 2018 events.

This year the organising committee has taken the decision to return to the Kingsway Hall, having thanked the railway club for its support over the past three years.

Colin Cheesman, chairman of the Harwich Beer Festival organising committee, said: “We are very grateful to the Parkeston Railway Club for their support as they helped us to keep the Harwich Beer Festival alive at a time when we didn’t have a large enough venue to stage it.

“However, now the Kingsway Hall is available to us again the committee has decided to take the festival back to its original home where we had been for 13 years.”

The festival is on from November 20 until November 23.
