The best musical talent from around the area will come together for this year’s Beside the Seaside Festival.

The festival, in Dovercourt, will host live music across two stages for audiences to enjoy.

A main stage will feature the region’s brightest unsigned talent, a swimsuit competition and a performance by Harwich Rock School.

There will also be an acoustic podium which will include artists such as Ronnie Thurlow and Rosalind Harniess.

Beside the Seaside will also bring a host of traditional seaside entertainment to the beach.

Secret beach huts returns with a wide variety of activities including story telling, with performances from Harwich and Dovercourt High School performing arts students, hair braiding, a heritage hut run by the Harwich Society and an escape hut.

On top of that, there will be a sand castle competition, donkey rides, roller skating, art and crafts and food.

The event has been arranged by the Harwich Festival on behalf of Tendring Council.

Michael Offord, general manager at the Harwich Festival, said: “There is something for everyone at the event.

“We’ve worked really hard to once again put on a fantastic event with fun for all the family.

“Whether it’s history, art and craft, music or a brainteaser from the escape hut, a good time is guaranteed.”

Alex Porter, Tendring Council’s cabinet member for leisure and tourism, said: “It would be well worth a trip to Dovercourt for the event.

“There is so much to do, and we’re hoping for great weather, so make your plans now to come to Dovercourt.

“It is an even not to be missed.”

The event takes place from 11am until 6pm on Sunday, August 18.
