FAMILIES are being invited to join a fundraising bubble run in a bid to raise money to build a new adult hospice.

The Southend Bubble Rush will take place at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, Garon Park on Saturday, September 7.

There will be two start times, at 11am and noon.

The event will help raise money for the new Fair Havens adult hospice being built in Southend.

The event is a colourful fun run which starts in a sea of foam, and along the course are four bubble stations pump out masses of coloured bubbles.

The event is not a race and is not timed – in fact there is no pressure to run.

The two-lap course at Garon Park is pushchair and wheelchair-friendly, meaning everyone in the family can take part.

Fair Havens Hospice is fundraising for a new adult hospice to continue providing care and support to individuals with a life-limiting illness, and their families.

The new Fair Havens Hospice, which will cover the population of Southend, Castle Point and Rochford, is set to open in Spring 2020.

It will bring together a range of specialist services to support people in making choices about their care from the day they receive their diagnosis, as they battle their illness, and as the end of their life approaches.

Judy Grocott, events manager at Havens Hospices, said “We’re really excited for Bubble Rush; it is set to be a fantastic day full of fun for all the family.

“We now only have £350,000 left to raise to complete the new hospice.

“So, every person who joins us at Bubble Rush and raises money for us will be making a huge difference for those who need us across South East Essex, now and in the future.”

Tickets for the Southend Bubble Rush event can be bought online until Thursday September 5.

Tickets cost £20 for an adult, £10 for children, aged three to 15-years-old.

There is also a family discount for two adults and two children at £12.50 per person.

The entry fee includes a Bubble Rush T-shirt to wear and a finisher’s medal.
