A CHILDREN’S hospice has received a generous donation from a charity which helps the sick.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) was handed a £10,000 cheque on Monday, September 23 from the Harwich and District Fellowship for the Sick.

Graham Butland, chief executive of EACH, said: “I am absolutely delighted that they’ve donated £30,000 over the past eight or nine years to our organisation.

“I had the pleasure of receiving the £10,000 cheque, which will be used for our community works.”

EACH provides care and support for children and their families who are suffering with life-threatening illnesses.

These children are unlikely to live through adulthood.

The money donated will be used to support 53 children in north east Essex, together with 41 family members.

Mr Butland said: “Each year we need to raise £8 million and of that £6 million comes from voluntary donations.

“A donation of £10,000 is really tremendous and we can’t express our gratitude.”
