Detectives are searching for witnesses to a single vehicle collision where a car left the road and crashed into a building.
Essex Police are searching for dash cam footage following the crash, which took place in Dovercourt at around 9.50am on Saturday.
The driver of a red Ford Focus failed to stop when ordered to do so by officers in Parkeston Road.
The vehicle was pursued along Ramsey Road but left the carriageway at the road's junction with Clayton Road and collided with a building.
The driver left the car and ran off.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are appealing for anyone who was on the road at the time and has dash cam footage of the incident.
"Please contact Stanway Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting reference 884764.
"Information can also be given completely anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting crimestoppers-uk.org."
