A MAN caught with drugs has been fined £120.

Police pulled Lewis Marsh over in Head Gate, Colchester, after the Mini he was driving activated intelligence markers.

They found a small amount of cannabis and £60 worth of cocaine.

The next day the searched his home in Orchard Drive, Great Holland, and found more cannabis.

Marsh, 23, was actually stopped in September last year but has only just been brought to court because police were investigating other matters.

He must pay £115 in court charges on top of his fine after admitting three counts of possession of drugs.

They will now be destroyed.

A PARATROOPER who was caught drink driving has been banned from the roads for 18 months.

Lce Cpl Bartlee Mchugh of 2PARA was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf in Alresford when a concerned passerby called police because he was driving erratically.

Officers found him at 2.30am on Aug 31 on the B1027 with a female passenger in the car and he admitted he had been boozing.

A breath test showed he had 67mcgs of alcohol per 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The 34-year-old admitted drink driving at Colchester Magistrates' Court where it was revealed he is seeking help for a drink problem.

Mchugh, who lives in Langley Road, Eastbourne, was on bail at the time of the incident for an offence of being in charge of a motor vehicle with excess alcohol - which he has since been convicted of.

Magistrates fined Mchugh £673, ordered him to pay a £67 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

A MOTORCYCLIST has been fined after popping wheelies.

Michael Harris performed the stunt in North Station Road, Colchester, on his KTM bike in November.

The 20-year-old admitted driving without due care and attention at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court.

Harris, of Poplar Cottages, Layer Marney, was fined £40.

He must pay £120 in other court charges and was given three penalty points.

A THIEF who stole trainers from two separate shops has been fined £80.

Nikki Mckenzie took shoes from JD Sports in Colchester town centre and Shuh on the same day in March.

The 35-year-old, of Ipswich Road, Colchester, admitted theft at Colchester Magistrates' Court.

She must also pay £115 in other court charges.
