A CAMPAIGN against dumped waste and litter rounded off with a litter pick in the town centre.
A team of 20 council staff collected litter with the We’re Cleaning Up campaign’s lead councillors, Gavin Callaghan and David Harrison.
Over the summer residents and groups joined litter pick and community events to clean up their public spaces including students from Abacus Primary School in Wickford and Basildon’s Greensted Junior School.
Leader of Basildon Council Mr Callaghan said: “Throughout the campaign I’ve been moved by how passionate our communities are about the place they live and keeping it clean and tidy.
“It’s heartening to meet community groups, individuals and school children doing their bit with the council.”
