HUNDREDS of people flocked to a history fair to learn about Harwich’s heritage.

The Harwich Society’s History Fair took place last weekend in the 1912 Centre, in Cow Lane, Harwich.

About 400 visitors attended the free event which combined the talents of the society’s archive team and Harwich Town Council’s archivists.

For the event, an extensive range of photographs, newspaper cuttings and a continuous slide show of photographs of the area were on show to view.

Harwich Society archivist and vice chairman, David Whittle, said: “This is the fourth history fair we have put on in the town.

He added: “I like to make it a free event as we should not have to pay to find out about local history.

“People also bring things in and this is how we get a lot of our information about the town.”

He paid a special thanks to Linda Morgan, Steve Delves and Jill Ball who are a team of archivists who helped him organise the event.

The fair will run next year.
