AN inquest has opened into the death of a woman who died after "lying in the road" in Mistley.
Emergency services were called to a fatal collision in New Road on October 21.
The woman who died in the crash has now been named as Gillian Rollings, 59, from Manningtree.
The inquest into her death was opened at Essex Coroner’s Court in Chelmsford on Monday.
The court heard a vehicle travelling in New Road collided with Ms Rollings, who was lying in the road, at about 6.35pm on October 21.
An ambulance was called to the scene and her death was confirmed by a paramedic at 7.04pm.
A provisional cause of death has been identified as multiple injuries, while histology and toxicology samples were taken.
The forensic post mortem examination was carried out by Dr Ben Swift at Colchester Hospital.
The coroner has adjourned the inquest until June 2, 2020.
