HUNDREDS of brave ticketholders visited a historic fort which was transformed into a fortress of fear for the return of a popular fright night.

Charity group, the Harwich Angels, organised the fright night at Beacon Hill Fort, in Dovercourt, last Friday, to raise money for two local causes.

Andrea King, event organiser and member of the Harwich Angels, said the event was a huge success.

She said: “We’ve raised £1,016 and we had about 420 people attend, so the night was really good.”

Half of the money has been donated to help restore the fort, and the other half will be used by the Harwich Angels for Christmas causes.

Mrs King added: “We’d like to thank the owners of the fort for letting us use the property.

“We had about 70 volunteers dress up on the night, both Harwich Angels’ volunteers and residents helped us out.”

This is the second consecutive year the fright night has been held at the fort.

Organisers have promised to hold it again next year and hope it will be even bigger and better.
