GIANT lanterns which will light the way at an annual festival are being made at four community workshops.

The free workshops are run by Harwich Festival and will help visitors create lantern banners for the Harwich Illuminate parade.

This year’s festival will take place on Friday, November 29, and Saturday, November 30, and it launches 2020, a year of celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to the New World.

The first workshop will take place at the Harwich Library, in Upper Kingsway, Dovercourt, tomorrow from 10am to 1pm.

The rest of the three session will happen at the Harwich Arts and Heritage Centre, in Main Road, Dovercourt on Monday from 10.30am to 2pm, on Saturday, November 23, from 10am to 1pm and on Tuesday, November 26, from 3pm to 6pm.
