AN inquest date over the death of a man who died in Lawford has still not been set nearly a year after his death.
John Benjamin Hughes, 44, died in Harwich Road on December 8 last year.
An inquest was opened on December 18 last year and was adjourned until June 6, this year.
An Essex County Council spokesman said: “The inquest didn’t go ahead on June 6, as there could be a potential prosecution and until this has been resolved by the police, an inquest date won’t be confirmed.”
A 20-year-old man from the Clacton area was arrested following the incident on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, perverting the course of justice, driving without insurance, failing to stop after an accident and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
He was later released under investigation.
The inquest is expected to be held at Essex Coroner’s Court.
