A TORY election candidate has condemned the vandalism of Conservative Party posters.
Sir Bernard Jenkin, who is hoping to retain his parliamentary seat for the Harwich and North Essex constituency in the upcoming General Election, has hit out on social media about vandalised Tory posters in West Bergholt.
Sir Bernard said: “We are reporting all criminal acts to the police.
“I am sure my fellow candidates will join in condemning such behaviour.
“We Conservatives certainly won’t be intimidated.
“Everyone is meant to be kind, civilised and polite in this election.”
On Tuesday he tweeted: “We Conservatives will not be intimidated by illegal acts of vandalism or threats of violence.
“We know some of our opponents are desperate, but I am sure my fellow candidates will all join in condemning such behaviour.”
The other candidates running in the Harwich and North Essex constituency are Michael Beckett, Lib Dem; Stephen Rice, Labour; Peter Banks, Green; Tony Francis, Independent; and Richard Browning-Smith, Independent
