KIND-HEARTED brothers have set up a fundraising page after vandals wreaked havoc at their school.

Zachery, ten, and Zain Levett, eight, created a JustGiving page after yobs carried out a vandalism spree at Mayflower Primary School, in Dovercourt, on January 12.

Their mum Chloe Levett, of Ray Avenue, Dovercourt, said her boys have been extremely affected by the attack on their school and could not understand why their school should suffer.

The 27-year-old mum said: “They wanted to help in any sort of way and decided to create a JustGiving page to try and give something back to the school and also to restore everyone’s faith in our community by teaching other children that there is more good out there, than there is bad.

“I’m always proud of them anyway; they always know what the right thing is and always take it upon themselves to want to help others.

“So, this was no surprise, especially when they feel strongly about something, they sit for hours waffling to each other what they are going to do for it.”

Miss Levett said Zachery is on the school’s council, and he wanted to put forward the idea of a fundraiser to help out and cheer the head and deputy headteachers up.

The brothers are hoping to raise £100 to help with the restoration work of the school’s double-decker bus, which was due to be renovated into a library this spring.

The youngsters wrote on their Just Giving page: “Our school’s library bus was ruined by silly people in a break-in and we want to help our school by raising some money to go towards fixing our bus, so we can read.

“Please help us and we will be grateful.

“We would love to help our school.”

Karen Wright, deputy headteacher, said: “I was so upset when I saw the damage to the bus as our plans were to convert it into a library for our pupils, to see so many upset children was heartbreaking.

“So, when I heard about Zac and Zain’s fundraising appeal, I was overwhelmed.

“It is such a wonderful, thoughtful gesture and it shows the community how saddened our pupils are about this dreadful vandalism.”

Teachers have in the meantime launched an appeal for help to move the bus into a protected courtyard, which is surrounded by classrooms.
