MISTLEY residents have been told to prepare for potential flooding at homes and businesses near the River Stour.

The Environment Agency has announced flooding is expected between 11.30am and 1.30pm today (Monday, February 10).

The Government body has warned that tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions spring tides.

Areas most at risk of flooding in Mistley are, The Walls, Mistley Place, Park and the waterside properties at Mistley Quay.

The water levels are set to rise to their highest at 12.33pm to nearly one metre above tide tables.

A statement from the Environment Agency said: “Take care on coastal roads and footpaths and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and will reissue this message for any subsequent tides if required.”
