Some years back, Priti Patel was a hard-working Witham MP.
I had frank differences with her over the 28,000 vehicles a day rumbling past my Grade II listed house, where the congestion was so bad, they saved regulars a seat in the traffic jam.
Nothing happened, of course, because it is one thing solving problems from a living room, to actually funding a bypass needed to alleviate the damage congestion and pollution and misery inflicted on tax-paying residents who were eventually offered the sticking plaster of a pedestrian crossing to enable residents to cross the road in relative safety.
I refer to this given the never-ending piling up of problems for community facilities in Harwich.
Back in the real world, the people have got their Brexit, meaning we can no longer blame Europe for homemade problems, all evolving from the fall-out from the cutting of austerity from the same politicians who have now been given a thank you, with a return to Government.
