TWO talented vice champion ballroom dancers made 100-year-old Maisie’s dream come true by surprising her with dance performances.

Tom Carman and his dance partner, Cacia Double, both aged 12 and pupils at Ballroom Business, in Parkeston, said they wanted to make Maisie Bradford’s birthday one to remember.

Mrs Bradford, who was born in Garland Road, Parkeston, celebrated her 100th birthday last week with her family and friends.

In her youth, she loved to dance with her late husband but nowadays likes watching and “chair-dancing” to the live musical entertainment put on at Lime Court care home, in Dovercourt.

Tom and dance partner Cacia dance at the care home last Saturday.

Sarah Meachen, lifestyle co-ordinator at the care home, said they entertained Maisie and the other residents to an array of dances which included the quickstep, Charleston, foxtrot and waltz.

She added: “Maisie was delighted to see the dancing and could remember the names of each of the types of dance.

“She was tapping her feet, swaying her arms and clapping to the music.”

Mel Carman, who is Tom’s mother, said the day was really emotional.

She added: “It was lovely to see Maisie have her wish fulfilled and also to see the other residents enjoy watching them.”
