A FIRE service is pushing for residents to sign up as on-call firefighters before a station becomes on-call only.
Dovercourt Fire Station has 13 fully trained firefighters, and 17 available on call.
But the station is losing its full-time crew next month to become an on-call only station.
James Hennessy, 34, is new to the Dovercourt area and recently signed up to become an on-call firefighter.
While working full time, James provides 90 hours cover a week.
He said: “For the short amount of time I have been doing it, I have not stopped learning new things.”
