A PAIR of adorable terriers have become village celebrities after cheering residents up during lockdown with their socially distanced photo tour around Constable Country.

Miniature schnauzers Mister Noodles, eight, and Wilfred Humphrey, seven, have been delighting villagers with their social media exploits.

With the help of owner Graham Reed, the pair have documented their travels across some of north Essex’s most picturesque sites, including Manningtree, Flatford Mill and Dedham, taking in several businesses along the way.

Owner Graham Reed said: “It started when I was walking around Flatford and the dogs jumped up on a bench, one at either end so they were 2m apart.

“I thought it was funny so I took a photo and posted it on my Facebook.

“It got a few likes so I decided to put it on the East Bergholt community page and it really took off.

“I just started taking photos of them in different locations and it has snowballed from there.”

The public wanted more and the patient pups have been all to happy to oblige, especially when there was the promise of treats involved.

Mr Reed, who lives in East Bergholt, said: “They are extremely well behaved as long as you have a treat at the ready.

“Once we got into a routine of doing it they seemed to know they had to sit apart.

“A few of the businesses have been bribing them with treats to visit.”

All together, the posts have received thousands of likes on Facebook.

Mr Reed has decided to retire the boys from their modelling careers, but says he’ll post occasional updates online.

“People have been bibbing their horns as they drive past us on our walks,” he said.

“I expect once this is all over they’ll be getting a lot of attention from people in the village.”
