A FOOTBALL club is looking to improve its facilities and has appealed for the community’s help.

Ramsey and Mistley Football Club has started a fundraiser to improve its changing facilities, purchase new goalposts and to ensure the site is Covid-secure.

Rob Passmore, chairman of the football club, said he is ahead of the game as he had a health and safety inspector give him advice about what needs to be done at the facility to make it Covid-secure.

He said: “When we took over in 2018 the building looked like it was attacked in a war zone, the changing rooms were in disrepair.

“Over the two years we have essentially had to completely renovate the building.

“We have managed to do a substantial amount of work, but we still have a way to go and unfortunately funds are running low.

“We need help to be able complete our mission of giving our players the facilities they deserve.

“We’re a wonderfully inclusive football club which focuses on all levels of community with aspirations to start a youth team in the future.

“Managers, coaches and players donate financially and time towards our goals and we would ask local communities to give us a hand, any small amount will be welcomed.”

Mr Passmore said the club was awarded a grant from the Football Association to purchase new goalposts for both pitches, however they need an additional £1,000.

He also highlighted how grateful the club is for all those people, be that builders, traders and companies who offer their labour for free.
