A HOUSE could be converted into a care home in Great Oakley if a council gives the green light.
Jayaprasad Ramakrishnan has presented a full planning application to Tendring Council to transform a residential house in High Street, Great Oakely, into a care home.
The proposal said up to six people with learning and physical disabilities would be living together as a single household and receiving care.
The tree and landscape officer from Tendring Council, Clive Dawson, said the change of use of the building and the creation of a new car park will be unlikely to cause significant harm to existing vegetation or to the character and appearance of the conservation area.
The consultee’s comment, which has been submitted to Tendring Council’s planning portal, said: “In terms of the enhancement of the local environs there appears to be an opportunity to secure new planting, including trees, on the parcel of land to the east of the proposed new vehicular access to the car park.
“Planting in this area will help to screen the parked cars from view and enhance the appearance of the public realm.
“Soft landscaping should be secured by a condition attached to any planning permission that may be granted.”
Tendring Council has the final say on the plans.
