Watford fans have been reacting to the news Etienne Capoue could be leaving the club.

Valencia are said to be in advanced talks to sign the Watford midfielder on a loan-to-buy agreement, Football Insider reports.

A move would see the 32-year-old reunited with his former boss Javi Gracia who joined the La Liga big guns after he was sacked by the Hornets in September 2019.

But Watford fans would be sad to see him go.

Responding to the news on Twitter, one wrote: "One of my favourite watford players of our 5 year stay in the prem, You will be missed Caps."

Another said: "I hope someone makes a full highlight reel of Capoue’s time at the club. So many nutmegs, pinged passes, tackles and goals to go in it.

"One of the very best Pozzo era players. Thanks Etienne."

A third added: "Seeing Capoue slander after he’s been the most important part of our team for the past 2 seasons.

"He’s better than the championship, he’s been a fantastic servant for 5 years and wants to play at his level at 32 years of age.

"Fully deserves the chance to move on."

Capoue has two years remaining on his contract at Vicarage Road having renewed terms in March 2018.

The centre-midfielder joined the Hornets from Tottenham for a fee of £8million in the summer of 2015 and has gone on to make 170 appearances for the club.

He arrived to England from Toulouse with a big reputation in 2013 and his subsequent 180 Premier League appearances have yielded 10 goals and eight assists.
