A MAN has been arrested after a lorry carrying sheep flipped over on a main rural road.

Police and emergency services were called to the A24 at Dial Post near Horsham at 4.20pm yesterday (Monday, September 28).

About 60 sheep died in the crash on the northbound carriageway.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services cleared the scene and police crash investigators launched an inquiry.

The RSPCA and the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) were both informed

Now police say a 34-year-old man from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He has been released on conditional bail pending further investigation.

Sussex Police said: “The road was closed in both directions for several hours as officers responded to the scene, and we’d like to thank the public for their patience and understanding.”
