POLICE stopped a group gathered around an uninsured moped seen being ridden around public roads.

On Sunday, officers stopped a number of people around Harwich, Dovercourt and Pakreston Swimming Club, in Dovercourt, talking around a black moped.

A spokesman for the service said: "The moped did not have insurance, was originally orange but sprayed black and shown as having no owner, for some bizarre reason the rider didn't want to reveal themselves to us.

"The moped was seized for having no insurance and our mystery rider faces either six points on his licence or a crushed moped.

"Good work from our officers keeping the roads free of people who don't think the rules should apply to them."
