AN organiser of a garden-focused group has encouraged people to get involved as it opens its doors again to enthusiasts after Covid restrictions lifted.

The Lawford and District Horticultural Society meet once a month in the village and had its first meeting in July, with its next on Thursday.

Having been cancelled since February 2020, Anthony Sparling, of the group, has said everyone is trying to get back to some form of normality.

“We want to encourage as many people as possible to come and get involved,” he said.

“We normally have spring and autumn shows, as well as one or two coach outings to different gardens of interest. We make sure a varied programme is always planned.

“It was great to be back last month, we had just over 20 people turn up which, for our first meeting back, I felt was a pretty good start. As an older community we had all really missed it.

“If you love your garden then you will certainly be interested, so come along.”

The group’s next meeting is taking place on September 16, where Dr Chris Gibson will be talking about gardening with wildlife.
