A PAIR of siblings have qualified for one of the biggest international equestrian events of the year to continue a successful year on the horse riding circuit.

Bobby and Chantelle Chapman both qualified individually for the Horse of the Year show set to take place in Birmingham during October.

One of the biggest events in the horse riding calendar, the siblings from Little Bentley will be competing against some of the best ponies in the UK.

Bobby, 14, has qualified for the Thor Atkinson Steel Fabrications Ltd. Mountain and Moorland 133cm Working Hunter Pony of the Year with his pony Peasdown Sebastian, and will be competing on the October 7.

While Chantelle, 16, has qualified for the Junior Mountain and Moorland Ridden Large Breed Pony of the Year the following day on October 8.

The pair’s mother, Victoria, said the teens are now working hard in preparation for the finals and are extremely excited to compete.

“I am so proud of both of the children as they are so determined and never give up; they both work extremely hard with the horses,” she said.

“The sibling rivalry makes it a lot of fun and there’s a lot of banter but they always cheer each other on and are always so proud of each other.”

Chantelle will be hoping to taste more success at the event having been nominated for the SEIB Showing World awards as a potential Perfect Ponies Junior Rider of the Year.
