The incident then escalates between a large group of men and the bouncers before it spills out on to the street.

As the melee continues, one man is knocked unconscious and can be seen lying face down on the pavement with his face covered in blood.

It has since been reported he suffered a loss of teeth, broken nose and concussion and had to be taken to hospital.

The fracas was eventually diffused following the arrival of reinforcements.

Simon Crow, Colchester councillor for the Castle ward, said: “I saw the video and found it horrifying and there is no excuse for this kind of behaviour and it is not what we want in our town centre.

"The door staff are there to ensure everyone can enjoy their evening and attacks like this are completely unacceptable.”

Harwich and Manningtree Standard:

The latest incident comes just one week after at least four people are believed to have had their drinks spiked while clubbing in the town centre on September 2 and 3.

Despite this, Mr Crow added: “As unpleasant as this is, however, I would remind people these incidents are rare and we want people to continue to feel safe when they are enjoying their night in the town centre.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 101 quoting incident 94 of 11 September. or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The Stonegate Pub Company, which runs Yates, did not respond.
