A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of several driving offences following a car chase which reportedly ended in a crash.

Essex Police officers attempted to pull over a vehicle at about 12.20pm on Sunday October 17 but the driver failed to stop.

After pursuing the car it eventually came to a stop in Harwich Road, Great Bromley, near to the Selecta Cars garage.

Officers subsequently arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and theft of a motor vehicle.

He was also detained on suspicious of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

One eyewitness, who was passing the scene on his way to work at the time of the incident, said: “I saw a car smashed into a tree and the airbags had gone off.”

A spokesman for Essex Police has now appealed for anyone with information to contact the force by calling 101 and quoting incident number 591 of 17 October.
