A TRIO of talented songstresses are preparing to perform a “special gig” at a town centre venue in recognition of the support they received as young musicians.

Wise Woman, a folk band originally founded in Colchester, will take to the stage at Three Wise Monkeys, in High Street, Colchester, on November 21.

The three-piece, consisting of Anna Pool, Lydia Bell and Charlotte Vaughan, merge harmonies with old time swing sounds and 90’s girl power.

Their songs weave intricate stories of real and imagined lives, transporting audiences on a theatrical journey through forgotten worlds and everyday treasures.

Inspired by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Carole King and off-Broadway musicals, Wise Woman also strive to reimagine the sound of female vocal trios.

Ahead of entering the studio to record their debut EP in January, they are now returning to Colchester for what is sure to be a spell-binding hometown show.

“It's a special gig for us,” added Anna.

“Without the support we received as teens in the town, we wouldn't have gone on to have our careers as an award-winning composer and West End leading lady.”

Tickets for Wise Woman’s performance at Three Wise Monkeys, which starts from 8pm, cost £10 in advance or £12 on the door.
