AN INTERNATIONAL banjo entertainer will be heading to town for a special guest talk.

Steve Galler, known as "the man with the golden banjo" will be paying a visit to the Harwich Society this Friday at 7.30pm.

For many Harwich Society members the programme of monthly talks scheduled throughout the winter months is the highlight of the club's calendar.

On the last Friday of each month there is a meeting with a guest speaker and these events are free of charge to all society members.

Steve Galler, who is a variety entertainer with a career spanning over forty years, will be sharing all about music and comedy and taking the audience through his long and fascinating career.

"The man with the golden banjo" has often appeared on the BBC's The Good Old Day and is a member of the Grand Order of Water Rats.

Colin Farnell, chairman of the Harwich Society, said: “Steve Galler will be a perfect way to warm up for Christmas and we are all very much looking forward to hearing about his long career and enjoying his music and comedy.

"It’s another example of the wide variety of topics covered by the Harwich Society’s winter programme of monthly meetings.”

The meeting takes place this at the Navigator in Barrack Lane at 7.30pm.
