POLICE are continuing to deal with protestors causing disruption at an Amazon warehouse in south Essex.

Extinction Rebellion has been staging demonstrations outside a number of the company’s warehouses in the UK, including in Tilbury.

Officers were called to the scene in the early hours of the morning as protestors moved in.

In an update this lunchtime, Essex Police says 20 demonstrators remain at the site, with some staging their protest from ‘height’ The force tweeted: “We continue to be part of a response to a protest which is taking place near to an Amazon depot in Tilbury.

“We have a number of units at the scene as we continue to engage with about 20 people, some of whom are protesting at height.

“Dealing with this scenario is a complex operation and requires specialist equipment.

“As such, clearing the road could take some time. Rest assured, we will resolve this issue as safely and as quickly as possible.

“Our priority is always to be on the streets of Essex keeping people safe, disrupting and stopping crime and catching criminals.”
